6 month Professional Course - Winter Start January 2020
The Narcissus Professional Course will focus on developing the technical skills and creative confidence to produce a strong portfolio of work and the necessary certificate to find work as a florist within the flower industry.
This practical hands-on course will run over 6 full weekends, one each month from January 2020 to June 2020 at our beautiful school premises (15 East Norton Place, EH7 5DR). The dates are outlined below and classes run daily on Saturdays and Sundays between 9am - 4pm.

Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd February
Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March
Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th April
Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st May
Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June
All materials, flowers and a professional florist's tool kit will be supplied. Refreshments and snacks will be available throughout the day and there will be a 45 minute break for lunchtime.
Students will benefit from expert demonstrations and one to one tuition, 4 days work experience in our shop and behind the scenes at our workshop, careers advice, as well as direct access to our resourceful team and ongoing support from our dedicated tutors during the course and beyond.
The curriculum will include the following topics;
The Hand-Tied Bouquet - Spiralling techniques to achieve different looks with a wide range of flowers.
Essential Basic Theory - From flower names and conditioning to seasonality and health and safety.
Wedding and Event Floristry - We will cover all aspects of exciting wedding and event floristry. From bridal bouquets to centrepieces to installing bespoke venue decor.
Corporate Design - Creating a brand-aware look to promote and enhance the image of the client.
Funeral and Sympathy Flowers - This is a sensitive part of the florists job, we consider this to be a privilege.
Photographing Flowers - A short class with Edinburgh photographer Tom Nolan in order to produce a great portfolio of your work.
